Pattern
Knitted Candy Corn Rat
Tools
US Size 4 (3.5 mm) 5" tips with 37" cable for magic loop
Notes
My 14-year-old niece came across a super-cute crochet candy corn rat and asked if I could make a knitted one. It is a fairly simple design so it wasn't too difficult, but I had fun trying out different things to get them to look like I wanted them to. The patterns below have NOT been test knit, I just wrote down what I was doing as I did it. If you find any mistakes or problems, please let me know!

I have reknit and edited this pattern and it will soon be published in an online knitting magazine. Once it has been published, I will add the link to the magazine which will have the updated pattern. I made 2 more small rats and 2 more large ones and added some tweaks that will make it a better toy for small children OR a display piece. Watch this space for a link to the magazine in early October 2023!

The revised pattern uses Big Twist Value yarn (100% Acrylic 6 oz/170 g 380 yd/347 m)

Large Rat #2 (safety eyes and pipe cleaner tail)

I made two more of the small rats to be sold at my upcoming family reunion to help fund the next reunion. They used the quantities of yarn listed below.
